Practice Guidelines for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders

Project Title: Developing Canadian Practice Guidelines for Children and Adolescents with Eating Disorders – A Knowledge Synthesis

Principal Investigator: Dr. Jennifer Couturier

My Role: Co-Investigator

Funding Source: Canadian Institutes of Health Research

Child and adolescent eating disorders are serious mental health concerns. This project involves researchers, clinicians, as well as patient and parent advocates. Using the GRADE approach, our goal is to  synthesize the available evidence on psychotherapeutic and pharmacological interventions to develop a clinical practice guideline for the treatment of children and adolescents with eating disorders. The development of this guideline will serve as the foundation upon which to create a community of practitioners (e.g. social workers, psychologists, physicians, etc., ) committed to systematically integrating evidence into clinical practice. This project will produce the first Canadian guideline on the treatment of eating disorders in children and adolescents, and a new and sustainable collaboration of researchers, clinicians, parents and youth interested in evidence-based treatment in this field.
